Have a large collection of library symbols for use with AutoCAD? Always forgetting which file contains that symbol you want?  Spending precious time searching for the symbol in mind?  Wish you had a utility that lets you view the contents of your library without opening each file?

Library viewer is just that. With the library viewer the contents of you symbol and standard detail library is available through a user friendly interface.  DWG files are represented by slides within the dialogue box and the collection can be scrolled through with the ability to add comments to help explain the contents.

No more forgetting.  No more time wasted viewing each file in turn until you find the one you want.  Library Viewer lets you view and insert the symbol or detail directly into you drawing, allowing it to be positioned just as required.

This utility requires Robert McNeel’s & Associates DOSLib AutoCAD plugin.  This can be obtained from here.

Functionality:

The restricted version of this utility ....

• Allows the view of the contents of files as represented by slides.
• Slides must be existent for them to be displayed.  If a slide is not available then a question mark is used to represent file.
• A database file is used to associate a file with the slide and comments are included in the entry for the file.
• If the database file does not exist then one is automatically created by the utility.
• Two lines of comments are supported for each file.

The full version of this utility ....

• Consists of two utilities: the Slide Creator creates a library of slides of the DWG files within a selected folder, the Library Viewer allows the viewing of the slides within a selected folder.
• The Slide Creator:
• Allows the user to select a folder for processing.
• Automatically generates slides for the DWG files within a selected folder by manipulating AutoCAD.
• Optionally searches through the sub-folders for other DWG files and generates slides for the files found.
• Additionally, the Library Viewer:
• Allows the insertion of the selected library drawing into the drawing sheet.
